Pendulum
Hanna Newman with collaborator Christopher Ian Brooker
Pendulum place is an exhibition of installation work that combines sculpture, video and sound to re-present the domestic space as a psychological space. Doorways, drains and sinks; these sculptures are cast architectural fragments of domesticity. Familiar yet altered, they challenge the boundaries between the real and the imagined. Like a photograph, these fragments encapsulate memory and freeze a moment in time. Oscillating between clarity and distortion the collected imagery and auditory fragments mimic the fluid nature of memory and time. Together, this work manifests memory and emotional resonance, capturing the essence of domestic life while blurring the line between the familiar and the unfamiliar.
